Thurston 13 Mace 8 Gillick 2 Rivett Dadalona kicked off the new 5aside era and climbed off the bottom of the table with a record breaking emphatic win in the highest scoring game in Match of the Dads history. The decision to switch from 6 to 5 a side was agreed earlier in the week which saw more attacking play and a greater quality of football. Heading into the game, Oldmans squad was badly depleted with a number of players injured or unavailable and Dadalona took full advantage by finishing their chances with aplomb. Marshall’s men have always been able to score goals, second to only Real MaDad in goals scored, but until now defensive frailties have let his side down. But with Thurston and loanee Mace firing on all cylinders, they managed 21 goals between them, and the plan of outscoring their opponents worked well. Ashley Roe, loaning for Oldman, played an outstanding match and gave the visitors hope with 6 goals in response, but it wasn’t enough to stop Oldman slumping to their second defeat on the bounce and giving Dadalona their first win of the season. Dad of the Match: Ashley Roe Tumbling Records Kevin Thurston broke Darren Brighams (9) record set earlier this season by scoring 13 goals in a single game. Dadalona broke Real Madads (22) highest scorers record by scoring 24 goals in a single game. Ironically, Reals record score came against Dadalona in their match earlier this season. Monday witnessed 35 goals in a single fixture, a new record which surpasses the 28 goals achieved 3 times by games featuring Real MaDad. Dadalona took 7 attempts to win their first game, conceding 93 goals (13 per game).

Dadalona became only the second side other than Real MaDad to score 20+ goals in a game. Real have done so twice. Kevin Thurston leaps to the top of the Golden Boot with 23 goals from just 3 games, with George Mace on 34 in 7 but ineligible due not belonging to a permanent team. Next up another double header with a top of the table clash between Dadston Villa and Real MaDad, whilst 3rd placed Dads Army travel to Dadford City.
